Remote Access Accounts

Getting access to Library Services offsite

Proxy Account
Click here to Request a Proxy account - The Becker Medical Library Proxy Server provides access to the Library's online medical literature sources for individuals accessing the web via an Internet Service Provider (ISP) other than the Medical Library modem bank. Accounts are available ONLY for faculty, staff and students of Washington University School of Medicine. Graduate students in Biomedical Engineering are eligible for accounts. For more information click here.

VPN
A VPN (Virtual Private Network) account allows access from off-campus locations (your home, for instance) to network resources that are otherwise blocked from outside the WUSM network. Some examples of resources that are blocked from the outside would include clinical resources and access to network drives. Library systems are also blocked from outside the WUSM network, but that requires a Proxy account (see above) rather than VPN. You can request either a Private VPN account or a Public VPN Account.

Wireless
Click here to Request a Wireless account - wireless network access is available at various locations throughout the Medical School. Students must request accounts through the Students tab. If you are on the secure network you will need to request a Wireless account on the WUSM Secure Network. Click here for more information about wireless networking at WUSM.
